The point of the story is that our angels are there to help us and it's not always done with a lot of lights and fanfare. They just do what they have to do and then leave. Every one has a guardian angel - even non-Catholics.
If this woman is not a true Catholic, it is very unlikely that this was a supernatural event or her Guardian Angel.

Also, it doesn't say whether she is Catholic or not. This article was, as I understand it, from several years ago.
