In reference to Fr Joseph's radio program last week and Fr. Bernard's sermon on Sunday regarding Obama's healthcare plan forcing all of us to pay for abortion and birth control, here are some very sad statistics. We will definitely be in the minority:
According to the Public Religion Research Institute poll released today,
A majority (55%) of Americans agree that "employers should be required to provide their employees with health care plans that cover contraception and birth control at no cost." Four-in-ten (40%) disagree with this requirement.
Key breakdowns
- 58% of all Catholics agree employers should be required to provide their employees with health care plans that cover contraception. That slides down to 52% for Catholic voters, 50% for white Catholics.
- 61% of religiously unaffiliated Americans say employer plans should cover contraception.
- 50%of white mainline Protestants want the coverage. However, for evangelical Protestants, that drops to 38%.

Though we may be in the minority on this issue, let us never forget that we have God on our side and He will not be mocked. Sooner or later all those who support abortion in any of it's many forms will have to pay the piper.
ReplyDeleteI was reading the comments under the article in the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel and almost ALL of them were for the Obama healthcare and forcing people to pay for birth control/abortion. I guess it saddens me that we as a society have fallen to the point where we feel that children are a punishment to be prevented at any cost.
ReplyDeleteMany said that if we pay for birth control, there will be less abortion. How sick is that? One writer said that it was clear that Catholics are using birth control because you see very few families with 12 children! He was right but unfortunately agreed that people should use contraception.
Between this and the overturning of Prop 8 in California, it's just a matter of time before God does to us what He did to the people in the Old Testament that disobeyed His laws. Scary stuff.
