Ardalion was a jester, a burlesque player, who was suddenly converted during a performance while he was ridiculing a Catholic in a stage act. Divine grace touched his soul at that moment. His conversion was profound. .Before his astonished audience he announced he was a Christian. Ardalion was arrested, condemned, and burned alive. He died a martyr around the year 300.

Very interesting information on St. Ardalion. However he isn't listed on the Franciscan calendar. Not sure why? Perhaps he wasn't a Franciscan.
ReplyDeleteJohn - He was martyred in 300AD. There were NO Franciscans yet because St. Francis wasn't born yet.
